Cultural Anthropology of Mayans, Aztecs and Incas
Before Columbus sailed in 1492, civilizations thrived in what was to become the Americas.
This six week class covers the art, traditions, politics, literature and more from pre-Columbian Central and North America. With two weeks on each culture, we'll spend time:
- Writing plays
- Composing advertisements
- Re-writing the outcome of history
- Staging a mock trial of one of history's most maligned figures
- Creating mummies and head dresses
- Building a suspension bridge
- and playing games America's original occupants would have played
We'll be doing Internet research, so while a laptop or netbook isn't required, it will be helpful to have a wireless-enabled device for the class.
